OFFICIAL RULES OPEN UBB FLAIR

COCKTAIL COMPETITION

JANUARY 12

1. General Principle

The competition takes place in the form of a single round only.

Each competitor must present a flair bartending routine while preparing two strictly

identical cocktails.

2. Performance Time

• Maximum time: 5 minutes per competitor.

• Any time exceeding the limit may result in a penalty or disqualification, at the

discretion of the jury.

3. Cocktails to be Prepared

• Each competitor must prepare two identical cocktails.

• Both cocktails must be perfectly identical in taste, appearance and garnish.

• The cocktails must be prepared entirely during the performance.

4. Authorized Products

• Competitors may use only products included in the official UBB portfolio

(attached document).

• All products must be brought by the competitor.

• If any product is difficult to obtain, the competitor must contact Julie in advance.

5. Homemade Product

• One homemade product is allowed per competitor.

• The full recipe must be stated on the registration form.

• The homemade product must comply with food safety and hygiene regulations.

6. Recipe Submission Deadline

• The complete cocktail recipe (ingredients, quantities and method) must be

submitted no later than January 8th.

• Late submission may result in invalid participation.

7. Bar Station Setup

• Each competitor has 4 minutes to prepare their bar station before the official

start of the performance.

• The station may be arranged freely, as long as safety rules are respected.

8. Bottles & Equipment

• All bottles used must be clean and without stickers or visible labels.

• Personal equipment is allowed provided it meets safety standards.

9. Music

• Each competitor must bring their personal playlist on a USB flash drive.

• Music will be launched at the start of the routine.

10. Safety Rules

• Each competitor is entirely responsible for their own safety and that of the

public.

• All flair moves must be controlled and safe.

• Any dangerous behavior may result in immediate disqualification.

11. Strict Fire Prohibition

• The use of fire is strictly forbidden at all times (setup, performance and

dismantling).

• This includes: flaming, flame working, flammable sprays, wicks, lighters, sparks or

any device producing fire.

• Any violation results in immediate disqualification without appeal.

12. Flair Moves – Finest Call Requirement & Bonus Prize

• Each competitor must attempt at least one “Finest Call Stall” move during

their routine.

• It is NOT mandatory to use a Finest Call product in the cocktail recipe.

• The Finest Call stall is evaluated only as a flair movement.

Point Deduction

• Not attempting a Finest Call stall = −5 points on the final score.

Special Prize – Best Finest Call Move

• A €100 prize will be awarded for the Best Finest Call Move.

13. Jury & Evaluation Criteria

The jury will evaluate:

• Flair technique

• Fluidity and synchronization

• Creativity

• Cleanliness of execution

• Final cocktail presentation

• Strict compliance with the rules

14. Eligibility, UBB Membership & Participation Fees

• Belgian bartenders (working and/or domiciled in Belgium) must be up to date

with their UBB membership: €105/year.

• Foreign bartenders must pay a participation fee of €35.

• Payment must be made before the competition to:

• Official selection for the European Flair Championship in Cyprus

• Medal

19. How to Get to CERIA from Brussels Airport (BRU –

Zaventem)

By Train + Metro (Recommended – approx. 45–55 min)

1. Take a train from Brussels Airport to Bruxelles-Midi / Brussel-Zuid

(every 10–15 minutes – ±20 min).

2. At Bruxelles-Midi, take Metro Line 5 (direction Erasme).

3. Get off at Station “CERIA / COOVI”.

 

4. Walk 2–3 minutes to the campus.

By Taxi / Uber (approx. 30–40 min)

• Estimated cost: €35–50.

• Destination:

Campus du CERIA, Avenue Emile Gryson 1, Anderlecht

By Car

1. Follow E40 towards Brussels.

2. 3. 4. Join the R0 Ring – direction Mons / Paris.

Take exit Anderlecht / CERIA.

Follow signs to Campus du CERIA.

Parking available near the campus.

20. Acceptance of the Rules

Participation in the competition implies full and unconditional acceptance of these

rules.

Any breach of the regulations may result in penalties or immediate disqualification

without appeal.

21. Official Day Schedule

• 10:00 – 12:00 → Classic Category

• 12:30 – 13:30 → Belgian Flair

• 13:30 – 16:00 → Guests Flair

• 17:00 → Official Results Announcement & Awards Ceremony
